How to Adjust the Knee Angle on a Dynamic Telescoping-Only Footrest

How to Adjust the Knee Angle on a Dynamic Telescoping-Only Footrest

A Dynamic Telescoping-Only Footrest provides telescoping movement while maintaining a fixed knee angle. For proper wheelchair positioning, that knee angle may need to be adjusted to meet the individual client’s seating needs.

In this Tech Tip video, learn how to adjust the knee angle on a Dynamic Telescoping-Only Footrest using a 4 mm and 5 mm Allen key. The interlocking spline joint allows the angle to be repositioned and securely locked into place.

How to Adjust the Knee Angle on a Dynamic Telescoping-Only Footrest

Tools needed:

  • 4 mm Allen key
  • 5 mm Allen key

Step 1: Remove the dust cover screw.

Using a 4 mm Allen key, completely remove the screw securing the dust cover. Hold onto the dust cover as you remove the screw so it does not fall or roll away.

Step 2: Loosen the adjustment screw.

Using a 5 mm Allen key, loosen the screw at the top of the footrest. The screw does not need to be completely removed.

Step 3: Release the interlocking spline joint.

Once the screw is loosened, push the joint outward to disengage the raised interlocking splines.

Step 4: Adjust the knee angle.

Reposition the footrest to the desired knee angle. The interlocking spline joint provides multiple positioning options while creating a strong connection when engaged.

Step 5: Secure the new position.

Press the joint firmly back into place so the splines are fully engaged. Using the 5 mm Allen key, tighten the adjustment screw.

Step 6: Replace the dust cover.

Reinstall the dust cover and secure it with the screw using the 4 mm Allen key.

The knee angle adjustment is now complete.
