R.K. – A Dynamic Solution to Extensor Thrust
R.K. is a 15-year-old with cerebral palsy, GMFCS Level V, who experiences significant extensor tone throughout all four limbs and repeated extensor thrusts while seated. She also presents with postural asymmetry, microclimate concerns and a history of skin breakdown that previously limited her sitting tolerance and participation at school. Her seating system was developed in Sligo, Ireland, with Gavin Horan, PT, Clinical Sales Specialist at LCS, Ltd.
Learn how a Dynamic Rocker Back, Dynamic Footrests and custom contoured seating helped R.K. manage extensor forces while maintaining alignment. The integrated solution also reduced shear and skin concerns, increased sitting tolerance and helped her remain comfortably engaged throughout the school day.
