Course Description:

The recent development of dynamic components for seating and wheeled mobility has opened the door for opportunities for individuals with abnormal tone presentations. No matter what the tone presentation is, the use of specific dynamic features in mobility systems can help alleviate common issues that have been difficult to deal with in the past. Through the use of properly matched dynamic components to tone generated movements, individuals can achieve greater stability for function and comfort. In addition, equipment breakage issues can be addressed and minimized. In order to be successful, a basic understanding of tone presentation and related issues is needed as well as basic knowledge of what dynamic components are and the pros and cons of their use. This session will look at available options while matching benefits to different tone presentations.

Learning Outcomes:
  1. The participant will be able to identify 2 common tone patterns that can interfere with seated posture.
  2. The participant will be able to list 3 factors that need to be considered when evaluating clients for dynamic components.
  3. The participant will be able to match 3 different dynamic components with the body parts that are impacted by their use.
