Free CEU: Muscle Tone and Tone Management: Dynamic Seating Intervention

Free CEU: Muscle Tone and Tone Management: Dynamic Seating Intervention

Join OT Michelle Lange for this seminar on demand webinar with IACET CEUs provided by NRRTS as an authorized provider.

Date/Time

On demand.

Course Overview

This course is the first in two covering Muscle Tone. This one discusses muscle tone definitions, etiology, and pathophysiology. People with increased muscle tone may also have movement disorders and reflexive responses. Diagnoses where increased muscle tone is common will also be presented. This course will then address tone management interventions and how these impact wheelchair seating.

Finally, the use of Dynamic Seating in people with increased muscle tone and movement disorders will be presented. Dynamic Seating moves in response to client movement, diffusing forces and protecting the client from injury and the equipment from loss of adjustment and breakage. Following completion of this course, consider Course 2 in the series.

Learning Objectives

The participant will be able to:

  • Define muscle tone and related pathophysiology.
  • List 3 tone management strategies.
  • Describe how Dynamic Seating interventions can benefit clients with increased muscle tone.
